On the last evening of my visit to Southern California and San Diego, Shuwen took me to Torrey Pines State Beach for sunset. We walked out to Flat Rock, the remainders of an old seastack that protrudes into the ocean. Even though there was no cloud in the sky, it was quite a remarkable sunset. After the sun had set, at dusk, the bright sandstone cliffs come aglow with the last light in the sky.
The tide was low so it was easy to get onto Flat Rock itself for photos looking both north and south, and we were lucky to have this beautiful spot almost to ourselves for a bit.
