A morning visit to the rugged coastline at the tide pools area of Point Loma. It’s not easy to get good light at this location because the whole area is part of Cabrillo National Monument, which is only accessible from 9am to 4.30pm. Overcast days with a marine layer or storm are the most useful.
I worked with a combination of filters to get exposure times between half a second and eight seconds – sufficient to blur the water, while still retaining some of the structure and movement.
