Photos from a hike into Boden Canyon, roughly located between Escondido and Ramona. An exceptionally beautiful place, especially in Spring. Nestled between the mesa of private Rancho Guejito and Orozco Ridge, it is isolated pretty much, and the northern part is quiet and peaceful.
The canyon itself is mostly in a north-south direction, and hiking the entirely length from the Highway 78 trailhead*) is about 11 miles. A part of the canyon will supposedly be a section of the Coast-to-Crest trail (a project of the San Dieguito River Park) in the future – about halfway in is a trail that connects to Pamo Valley, via Orozco Ridge. So somehow, there’s also going to be a trail from Pamo Valley connecting to the Santa Ysabel Preserve(s) in the future. I’m curious where it will be – this part of the back country is really my favorite.
*) this trailhead is now closed, and official access to Boden Canyon is via Pamo Valley and Orozco Ridge, or via Pamo Valley and Santa Ysabel Creek.
