Sunrise in August is pretty early I’m telling you. And having food and drinks with friends the evening before you want to make sunrise photos at a scenic vista point doesn’t really help getting up early!
But here I was, at the Minarets Vista above Mammoth Lakes, around something like 5:30 in the morning – asking myself why anyone would do that, why there wasn’t a single friggin’ cloud in the sky, and all that.
And since I was already there, I figured I might as well make some photos.
