An afternoon visit to Laguna Mountains, with monsoon clouds over the desert to the east. My last visit in similar conditions saw me getting soaked really good at Monument Peak; this time I started at the Penny Pines trailhead and hiked on the Pacific Crest Trail a little bit. This time I didn’t get rained upon!
My idea was to hike up to Garnet Peak but when I saw that it was entirely in clouds I gave up on it, and stayed lower instead on the trail, enjoying the views of the desert. Such hazy conditions with the play of light and shadows on the landscape below demand high contrast black & whites, I can’t help it… :)
