Tabletop Reef Inspection

South Cardiff State Beach (or Seaside State Beach) is one of my go-to places for walks with Toni at the beach. The tide pool area at the southern end (closer to Solana Beach than Cardiff By The Sea) is called “Tabletop Reef” and it is always changing, so it needs regular inspections. ;)

In Summer, a lot of sand gets washed onto the tidepools and they partially disappear, but Winter storms with higher tides wash the sand away. The photos below are from a visit on Christmas Day during a very low tide, which revealed parts of the reef that are hidden underwater most of the time otherwise.
