Fantastic conditions for photography on a desert hike to the “Domelands” in the Coyoto Mountains Wilderness area of southern Anza Borrego. From the Domelands, one has the most spectacular views of the Carrizo Badlands.
The sun was playing with the clouds of a Pacific storm system that brought rain to the western portions of San Diego County – painting patterns of light and shadow onto the parched and eroded Carrizo Badlands. Up from the Domelands area, I used my 70-300mm telezoom lens (which I appreciate more for its light weight than its optical qualities on such hikes) to extract somewhat abstract portions of this mesmerizing spectacle.
