Red Rails

Red Rails photograph by Alexander S. Kunz
Red Rails — Tianzhong Forest, Changua County, Taiwan. March 2013.

One of my favorite images from a crazy hike at the Tianzhong Forest trails. The trail climbs up on a razor-thin ridge with an elevation change of 500m over a distance of only 1.5km, then winds around a canyon, and goes back down on another ridge. In the humidity of the lower elevations, it was a very sweaty exercise, but highly enjoyable.

I made this photo in the afternoon, when the sunlight was filtered by a dense layer of haze that lingered all over the land. Sunset was still about 1.5 hours away, but thanks to these conditions, it was possible to get this nice, soft and even light in the photo.

Part of my growing Taiwan portfolio.
