Lawrence Hogue quote

“We can certainly do great damage to the earth and the plants and animals that live here,
but we are hurting nothing other than ourselves.”

  1. I was deeply touched by your accurate but troubling statement. Having been fortunate to have grown up in the country and watched as it was systematically turned into an urban sprawl, your post hit me in the heart. I have been an advocate for Mother Earth and her beauty and bounty, all my adult life. Why so many others take and take, give nothing back and then place the blame upon anyone but themselves, never ceases to amaze me. And these are my so-called betters. Fools. One and all. Mankind is hell bent on destroying himself and taking Earth with him. And it is accelerating. I am just grateful that i had a chance to view, paint, photograph and live among the tall pines and cedar. For all too soon, they will be no more.
    Thank you, Katheryn Allensworth

    1. Thanks for your kind and long reply, Katheryn (and sorry that I didn’t respond any sooner). I appreciate it.

I sometimes think that humans must be aliens, or a mutation gone wrong. What other species on the planet destroys its own ecosystem, poisons the water that we drink, and pollutes the air that we breathe? It’s so strange…
