Canyon Sin Nombre Slot Canyon (5 photos)

My first stop during an early-November excursion into the southern parts of Anza Borrego Desert State Park was at Canyon Sin Nombre, to finally find the “real” slot canyon there. Previously, I had ventured into one of the side-arms further west in the canyon, which also turns into a slot, albeit a very brief one.

The “real” Canyon Sin Nombre slot canyon isn’t that long either, but it’s certainly one of the narrower ones that I’ve been to. Not as rough as “The Slot” near Borrego Mountain, and not as smooth as the one in Middle Fork Palm Wash near the Calcite Mine. Like most of my slot canyon photos, I present these as black & whites – maximising the contrast to bring out the structures and forms seriously falsifies the colors, and while I sometimes like that effect, I think a monochrome rendition has more impact, helping to focus on the essentials of the images.
