June Lake Fall Colors (7 photos)

After our morning hike to Sherwin Lakes we waited for the sun to get lower in the afternoon and went for another cruise up north on Highway 395, visiting June Lake again via the scenic June Lake Loop byway.

The sun gets blocked by the mountains surrounding the valley long before sunset, leaving everything in a nice and even light – my favorite conditions for color photography for sure. After a brief stop at June Lake proper we continued to Silver Lake for a little walk on the trails along the lake shore with Toni, and then drove a little further.

Where the valley opens up a little bit past Silver Lake was a beautiful stand of Aspen trees – the only hurdle was Rush Creek! I waded through the cold water to get closer and got a good fix of fall-colored Aspen beauty. :-)
