Well, duh. It only took me 5 months to show these photos – when I so wanted to get better at processing and presenting my photos in a more timely manner this year! Sigh. I made these photos on January 11th, and I have already posted some black & white impressions from that hike – but somehow, I completely forgot about the color images!
Returning to the Domelands in southern Anza Borrego’s Coyote Mountains Wilderness was long overdue – I wanted to see the Carrizo Badlands from up there again, and venture into the badlands and Andrade Canyon again, too.
And once more, our timing was great with regards to the weather – winter storms from the Pacific to the west partially made their way across the Peninsular Ranges of the Laguna Mountains, bringing some drizzle and more importantly, overcast skies and a nice play of light and shadow to the desert beyond.
I’m truly in love with the vast emptiness of this landscape, it’s color, shapes, forms… I hope you can see it too, in these four images:
