Two photos from a morning walk at Escondido’s Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. The chaparral isn’t as vibrant and green now in August as it was in early June when I made these two photos.
I do hope that the photos transport some of my fascination and excitement for and about the chaparral, but I guess there’s a good chance that they’re just two frames with a bunch of random greenery (and some rocks) in it to the “uninitiated” – and that’s all right. As photographers, or any artist for that matter, it is important to remember that we create what we create not to please others, but primarily to express ourselves. And in that regard, these two photos are a success.
