Yosemite by Phone (10 photos)

I’ve returned from a four-day visit to the Eastern Sierra (and mostly Yosemite) yesterday evening, and while I’m still paralyzed ;-) by the amount of photos that I made (around 200), I’ll give you a brief preview of things to come with a compilation of cellphone photos (some of them I’ve previously shared on Instagram).

The Rough Fire is still burning in the southern portions of the Sierra, roughly in the area of King’s Canyon and Sequoia National Park. It’s a big fire, and depending on the wind, the smoke would affect regions as far north as Yosemite. On my way north on Highway 395, the town of Bishop in the Owens Valley was covered entirely under smoke.

During my hikes in Yosemite, there were days where the smoke was sometimes more and sometimes less of a problem. I’ve done four hikes: North Dome, Clouds Rest, Mount Hoffmann, and Gaylor Lakes. I also paid a visit to Mono Lake’s South Tufa area since I stayed close by, in the village of Lee Vining.

As usual, the panoramas are available slightly larger and I encourage you to switch your browser to fullscreen mode (usually done by pressing F11) in order to view them larger.

Stay tuned for the “real” photos – I’ll add some notes about the individual hikes as well there. Cheers!

Stay up to date with my blogposts and subscribe via email. It’s easy and you’ll never receive more than one post per day.
