Vertical Dunes (3 photos)

The past few weeks have been quite busy because of our home purchase and remodel – and we’re seeing some light at the end of the tunnel now. The most important part of the house is (almost) done – the kitchen! (it’s almost unreal how much more complicated life becomes without one.)

I’m also the guest mentor for Anne McKinnell’s “Photo Forte” this month and it has been a great experience – being able to help people with critique on their photos and sharing tips and tricks with them is fantastic, and the feedback I’ve been getting has been extremely flattering.

But I’ve set this evening aside to finally work on some of my own photos again, and to also send out a life-sign to the fellow readers of my blog and the friends and followers of my photography. Work on the photos from my September visit to Algodones Dunes is long overdue, and it’s the most satisfying to do right now. :-)

With this set of three images I’ve been experimenting a little bit with different approaches to developing the images (but obviously, I’m keeping them black & white – the center image “Grand Designs” also appears in the tighter selection of the Algodones Dunes portfolio gallery), lighter and with less contrast and punch, similar to the single image that I’ve previously shown as my photo of the month for September.

It doesn’t look like there will be a photo of the month for December though, because I didn’t have a chance to get out much with the camera – and also, just like in previous years, I’ll present a selection of my personal favorites from this year as a gallery for the end of the year (and participation in Jim Goldstein’s annual blog project). I’m close to finalizing the selection so stay tuned, it’ll go online soon, hopefully (and in the meantime, here’s the archive with the collections from previous years: Top 10).

Stay up to date with my blogposts and subscribe via email. It’s easy and you’ll never receive more than one post per day.
