Stranded on Gamma Leonis

It was quite a struggle to pick a photo of the month for June 2016. Nothing seemed to really satisfy me at first, I really wanted an infrared photo that worked and had two, but found one too alienating and the other too “plain” (a black & white landscape photo).

It took a little bit of convincing by wife to go with the bold & more personal choice of this alien-looking infrared seascape photo below. I was lacking the confidence and almost went for a “safe pick” in the shape of a seascape photo that I only made yesterday when I met two friends in La Jolla, at the very same spot no less. :-)

It’s moments like these, when we go through a number of photos and I get Shuwen’s input and honest opinion, that I feel so lucky and blessed to have her help and support (and not just in photography, of course). And to be able to have this kind of exchange with my partner is one of the greatest gifts in my life. Thanks Shuwen – you’re the best! :-)

As usual, this “photo of the month” is priced lower than my regular prints, permanently. You can browse the entire past selection of photos that are available at this promotional price in this gallery, in my store.

Oh and, in case you’re wondering about the title – it’s a little bit inaccurate. “Gamma Leonis” is a binary star system (in the Leo constellation), so there would be no strange and alien-looking shoreline there. However, it does have one confirmed exoplanet, “Gamma Leonis b” – and who knows, maybe it has an ocean and a shoreline like this?

Thanks for reading! You can stay up to date with my blogposts and subscribe via email (the subscription form opens in a new browser window/tab). It's easy as pie! :-)
