Some photos from a walk at the Blue Sky Ecological Preserve with my friends Joe and Peter. It’s always interesting to see how others see the same stuff I’m looking at all the time. We took the oak grove trail first and then continued to the picnic area below the Lake Poway dam. Joe had never been to this place, and Peter only a long time ago (you can see some of Peter’s photo in his Instagram feed, and Joe’s on his website).
Joe’s and my vision were somewhat similar I’d say – but he saw opportunities to make a photo where I saw only distractions. Maybe because I’ve been to this place quite often now. Peter on the other hand switched from a wide to a telephoto lens almost immediately, and focused on the details and abstracts – my plan to see more inclusive oak woodland photos from him didn’t work out! :-)
My own impressions are in the gallery below. It’s a mix of “real camera” and cellphone photos. The boundaries are getting blurrier and blurrier, and I enjoy the flexibility of hand-holding the phone at odd angles that just wouldn’t be possible with the big camera, especially not on a tripod…subscribe via email (the subscription form opens in a new browser window/tab). It's easy as pie! :-)
