Coastal Fog at Torrey Pines Extension (12 photos)

My mid-day scouting at Torrey Pines Extension in bright sun paid off today. :-) I caught a tweet by the National Weather Service San Diego, announcing dense fog at the immediate coastal areas – and I knew exactly where I wanted to be…

This was probably the best and most productive outing with Torrey Pines and coastal fog yet. I did not try to create a consistent look for these photos as conditions changed all the time: in the afternoon (first photo below is from 4pm) fog was moving in and out, then for sunset it cleared up momentarily and the fog revealed a little more of the surrounding landscape. After sunset the fog moved in again (last photo was made at 6pm).

And yes, the Ceanothus photo is a weird little outlier in the gallery below, but the combination of these different green hues was just too neat. :-)
