Regular readers already know that 2013 was not exactly a good year for this fog loving photographer (at least not in San Diego). We had plenty of super foggy mornings in 2012, and I loved it. But there were hardly any in 2013. We had one foggy morning in October, and luckily, I managed to get out with Toni and the camera for an hour or so, wandering about some nearby hills in 4S Ranch with stands of Eucalyptus trees. I really like the appearance of these tall trees in the fog.
At first I thought I’d process these images individually, some color, some black & white, but when I looked at the results the lack of consistency just didn’t work. Since about half of the images where black & white already, or almost monochrome since the color was extremely limited (everything is dry and pale beige or brown in October, except for some bushes and the Eucalyptus trees… and yes, sometimes it’s still hard to cope with that, since October is one of the most colorful months in Germany), the choice to go all black & white for a consistent look was most obvious. I hope you like it!
