Narrow passage in Arroyo Tapiado, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California
"Tangent" - narrow passage in Arroyo Tapiado, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, California. February 2013. Prints available.

I visited Arroyo Tapiado with my friend Detlev for the first time in February 2013, and I was immediately hooked. We explored just one single side-arm of the arroyo, and didn’t even enter any of the mud caves or climb up into the mud hills (Arroyo Tapiado is the northern extension of Carrizo Badlands, past the bed of Carrizo Creek). I’ve been there again twice in 2013 and captured many more photos, but this detail of our first exploration is special to me. It looks almost artificially light, but it’s only natural light bouncing off of various, differently colored walls and surfaces around. An absolutely fascinating place.

PRINTS: open edition fine art prints of Tangent are available directly in my print-on-demand store (together with canvas prints, metal prints, acrylic prints, and greeting cards).
