Plants growing in the upper parts of the slot canyon of Middle Fork Palm Wash, near the old Calcite Mine in the north-eastern part of Anza Borrego Desert State Park. I find it absolutely fascinating how these bushes and shrubs manage to find a space in the sandy gravel soil and in the cracks of the canyon walls, and grow from there.
