Clevenger North Slope

Ravine filled with Oak and Sycamore trees, in the south-facing slopes of Clevenger Canyon, San Pasqual Valley, California
Ravine filled with Oak and Sycamore trees, in the otherwise only sparsely vegetated south-facing slopes of Clevenger Canyon, San Pasqual Valley, California. February 2012.

This may be a little bit confusing at first – what you’re looking at are the south-facing slopes of Clevenger Canyon, with their more sparse and open, grassy vegetation. Since the canyon runs in a roughly east-westerly direction, the northern side of it faces south, and the southern side faces north. :)
