We went for a little walk/hike at Love Valley with friends yesterday. Southern California is affected by unseasonably warm temperatures at the moment and at the higher elevations of Palomar Mountain’s south-eastern slopes it was more pleasurable than down in the coastal valleys.
Shuwen was making photos of the kids, and in full anticipation of photographically “grim” conditions (which means bright sun, blue sky, no clouds) I brought the macro lens along to look for some details I might find. Unsurprisingly, the ugly old corrugated metal shack down at Love Valley was a good subject: on the walls that were in the shade, the light from both blue sky, the beige-brown soil and some sparse green grass was caught nicely by the old rusted metal and its deteriorating coating.
