Dry Gully

One of the photos I just keep coming back to for some reason, and I don’t know why. I find something about it very appealing.

Maybe it’s the colors – I often find that my color photos consist of two dominant colors that are also somewhat close to being complementary (or rather, opposite, depending on which way you look at it), like the orange and green in this one here, with the green actually drifting into blue a little bit. The opposite/complementary colors would be red and green, or blue and orange, so that’s close enough to suffice as an explanation to me. :)

I don’t do this on purpose – but the fact that the effect of complimentary/opposite colors has been described so well probably means that our brains are simply wired to be attracted to strong color contrasts, and I’m just perfectly normal.

And maybe the photo just needs to get out into the world so I can be done with it. :-)
