Summer dawn at Garnet Peak, Laguna Mountains, California; August 2019.
I drove out to Mount Laguna late at night, slept in my car for a couple of hours (or rather, I tried to, because the wind kept waking me up) and met my friend Tracy at the trailhead about an hour before sunrise. We hiked up to Garnet Peak to photograph the sunrise, and this is the primary photo that I wanted to make. It was brutally windy, as it often is at this peak, and I raised my ISO to 400 in order to not lose too much of the foreground vegetation to motion blur.
