Foggy Morning at Black Mountain

June Gloom disappointed a little bit during a walk at Black Mountain Open Space Preserve with one of my fellow Chaparralians – the marine layer began to burn off around 7.30 in the morning already.

These were not exactly the conditions I had hoped for to make some photos of the chaparral (plant portraits simply work much better when hard shadows and bright highlights are absent, on overcast days, or at least mornings) but these two landscape photos turned out nice enough to show them. I particularly like how Mount Woodson (a somewhat popular local “icon” or at least hike) emerges from the fog.
