Hospital Point (5 photos)

Five photos from a morning outing to La Jolla’s Hospital Point. I met my friends Jim and Joe there. Our usual routine is to make some photos, optionally get our feet and legs soaked by a sneaky wave or two (this happens only if we don’t bring extra shoes and socks – which I did this time, so I didn’t get soaked), and then have breakfast somewhere nearby.

I’ve been to this spot so many times by now (just browse the tags, below the post), on that very morning I felt a little bit tired of it. I went more for the company and breakfast together, than for the photos – even though it meant getting up early… ;-)

Since I was already there and brought the camera along, I felt that I should make photos despite being tired of the place, just to challenge myself to do it. And after making the first photo, a vertical at 24mm focal length, I decided to make all photos at 24mm and in vertical orientation. Just to make the challenge a little more interesting.

Okay, I admit using a wide angle vertically at the coast isn’t exactly the most daring challenge, but still: this restriction forced me to think more, change my position instead of lazily zooming in and out, that sort of thing. In the end, I don’t think any of these photos will make it into my portfolio (who knows?), but it was a good exercise, nevertheless.
