Olive trees are not native to the Americas and were cultivated by Spanish missionaries. This olive tree is said to be from the original days of the mission. Olive trees can indeed get very old (up to 700 years) so it is absolutely possible.

Proceeds from any print sales of this photo (available in my store) will be donated to the Campaign for the preservation of Mission San Antonio de Padua.
