Four more photos from my evening visit to Mono Lake’s South Tufa. Wandering through the rugged, abstract and fascinating tufa structures I wanted to isolate them from the surrounding landscape in order to portrait their qualities. The cloudless sky helped to achieve that goal.
“Tufa Garden 3” is my favorite of the set, even though I wish it would have been possible to isolate the single “towers” a little more from each other – but no matter which way I moved the camera, some merging would always happen. In the end, the grouping I’ve chosen gives my eye enough structure while still inviting a more thorough visual exploration of the individual elements.
