The bird nest is hardly visible (near the top of the frame). As we walked closer, the nestlings heard our footsteps and began to cry for food (beeb beeb beeb). A moment later, mama bird arrived – backlit from the sun above, she hovered on the wind in the canyon – an almost ethereal appearance in this forbidding environment. One of these moments where the wonder of life really becomes most apparent.
