The Pacific Crest in Southern California is part of the Peninsular Range that stretches from Baja California in Mexico all the way to Mount San Jacinto (near Palm Springs). One of the highest peaks in the Laguna Mountains area is Monument Peak, which is easily reachable from Sunrise Highway with a short (about 30 minute) hike.
Like many other peaks that are easily accessible, Monument Peak is developed, a road (that is not open to the public) leads up to an array of antenna structures and whatnot. I have to say that I prefer the European way of putting crucifixes onto mountain summits, even though I am not a religious person.
Nevertheless, Monument Peak is one of my favorite lookout points, as it protrudes a little more to the east, whereas nearby Garnet Peak, reachable just as easily, it a bit more embedded into the landscape.
