This photo shows the peak nowadays know as “Peitingkopf” (it is also called “Peitingköpfl”, “Peitlingkopf” and “Peitlingköpfl”). While visiting Heutal (from which the ascend to Sonntagshorn is shortest, and most convenient) I found some very old postcard which showed this little rock outcropping above a pasture – except that the photo was captioned “Beutelkopf”. The name must have deviated not too long ago. Maybe it is a phonetic adaption, because the word “Beutel” (bag), pronounced in the Austrian and Bavarian dialect, is more like “Beidl”. Either way, I like to preserve the old, original name with my photos. :-)
