Schönramer Filz is a raised bog in Bavaria, Germany that had been drained in the past, in order to harvest peat. Since peat has lost its historic use as a building and heating material, the area is slowly returned to a natural state. Ditches are dammed and sealed shut, causing areas to return to their normal, flooded state. This causes trees (birches and pines) to die off, which is what you’re seeing in the photo (in a dramatic & gloomy false color rendition).
