“A land of dreams and nightmares, where the waking world meets the fantastic shapes and bent forms of imagination.” (Lawrence Hogue, All The Wild And Lonely Places).

The desert was an entirely new territory for me. Before visiting Southern California for the first time in September 2009, with visits to Joshua Tree National Park and the Salton Sea, I had never photographed the desert. It takes time to appreciate what lies in the dry, rugged and desolate landscape, and by now, I’ve come to enjoy hiking and photographing in the desert more and more.
