I guess it’s not a surprise that my photo of the month for September 2015 is once more an image from Algodones Dunes (aka Imperial Sand Dunes), after you saw the “Life in the Dunes” post a couple of days ago. :)

With the fourth visit and (coming) photo set from the dunes, I’m partially departing from the dark and/or high contrast look of the photos from my previous visits in 2014, so this photo serves as a preview of the coming images, in a way. If you’re browsing the entire Algodones Dunes gallery you may have noticed a slight trend towards less dramatic renditions already anyway. In the end, the images will go wherever they want to be, but right now I am very pleased with the way this turned out.

As usual with my Photo of the Month selection, the image is priced lower in my store, permanently. Click on the image to open it in the store to see all options for print materials, frames, etc.

This image has been flipped horizontally to create a compositionally pleasing “positive rise” from the plant along the sandy ridges toward the highest dunes. While the scenery does exist like this in reality, it cannot be perceived like this. Have you ever slipped a slide around and found it better that way? :-)
