A triptych composed of three tree photos made while driving through the clouds during a winter storm. The mountains to the east of San Diego are like moisture-wringing barriers for the storms that reach Southern California from the west in winter (and we’re always hoping for many of them). I enjoy driving up there and right into the clouds during such weather events, but it can be quite uncomfortable: high winds, freezing temperatures and snow are not uncommon.
During this outing it didn’t snow, but at one point the rain was coming in almost sideways from the strong winds, I got soaked in the one or two minutes I dared to get out of the car to make photos.
