Hiking the lovely trails in the rolling back country hills of San Diego at Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve West, which is part of the San Dieguito River Park. A clear blue day, direct sun, strong backlit – conditions that call for black & white photos. More about the hike below the gallery.
The hike starts at the trailhead directly off of Highway 78, about 1.5 miles west of the small settlement of Santa Ysabel. The trail is mostly an old dirt road and goes up and down over hills multiple times, some of them steep. To get an idea, have a look at this GPS log that I recorded later, on EveryTrail.com.
