Summer nights are great for night photography. The Milky Way rises high above the horizon, temperatures are pleasant, cloud cover is often minimal. I drove up the Laguna Mountains after dinner to make my first attempts at night sky time lapses. I had picked the upper Laguna Meadows as my location and hiked in from the Penny Pines trailhead.
Since I was early, I hiked a little bit on the northern part of the Sunset Trail. This quiet and secluded meadow had attracted me before, and it looked just wonderful at dusk.
I didn’t make any night time still photography that I consider worth showing, but if you’re curious about the time lapse movie that I made, you can watch it on Vimeo: Laguna Mountains Night Sky. I guess it’s ok for a first attempt. :)
