According to Wikipedia, “Badlands are a type of dry terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded by wind and water. They are characterized by steep slopes, minimal vegetation, lack of a substantial regolith, and high drainage density.”

I would simply say the are one of the most incredible things you can find as a landscape and nature photographer. Badlands display such an abstract beauty, it is hard to not be compelled and mesmerized by them. This blog archive page contains posts with images from these fantastic landscapes.

For a “best of” selection of my badlands photographs, please also have a look at the “Malpais” portfolio gallery.
