Empty
Channel Islands
Shuwen and I returned Tuesday night from a three-day “Channel Islands Hopping” cruise trip with the Sierra Club. We still feel a bit wobbly after bouncing around on the ocean for almost 4 days on a 68-foot boat, but it was great fun, with great fellow travelers and a wonderful crew. Each day was filled with a different activity and with many different impressions.
Morning Pastels at Cardiff State Beach
The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory Friday night and indeed, when I took Toni on her evening walk before bedtime it already felt more humid and there was a certain haze in the air. Excellent!
Glamis Dusk
My pick for the photo of the month in July 2014 is “Glamis Dusk” from my recent excursion to Algodones Dunes.
Variations of an Empty Ocean
I can get totally absorbed watching waves roll and clouds move. San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs is a very nice spot for that, the height of the cliffs is just right. High enough to stand above it all and not get distracted by too many details, but not too high either, still close enough to see the details of wave movement and spray flying.
