Monthly Update

The August Struggle

In May it felt like there was still plenty of time for 2017. In July it felt like the year was supposed to be still young, but actually wasn’t anymore. Now August is over and somehow, it feels a little bit like 2017 is slowly coming to an end, already. Only four months left of 2017 and once more, the question is – where did time go? Welcome to another monthly update and summary. Continue reading

Not the March Madness?

March was a busy month. Spring, green and wildflowers everywhere, running creeks, filled ponds and vernal pools! Lots of running around (not really in all the wrong places though;-) and all that while I’m preparing a Lightroom class for the San Diego Photo Club, and my “photographic hike from coast to crest” for the San Dieguito River Park as well. February News

February was a short month but filled with wonderful photographic activities. Here’s my monthly summary with all things new and different on my website and around my photography. Some blog posts from February are still missing at this point and a couple of January photos also still need to be published, but otherwise I’m pretty good at keeping up right now. :-)

September Summary

September is over and we had some interesting weather this month – cool nights, some mornings with thick fog, and also two days with Florida-like humidity and beautiful, almost constant monsoonal rain, thanks to remnant moisture from hurricane “Paine”. My photographic activities increased a little bit, but the truly good months for photography in Southern California are yet to come, and I’m really looking forward to this year’s desert hiking season already, as well as Spring in the back country. It’s getting close and the two days of rain made me feel it already. :-)

So what’s been going on here on the site and around my photography? Let’s jump right in… Continue reading

August Update

It’s the end of August and we’re beginning to feel the slow passing of summer. We had a number of cooler days with chilly nights now and, as odd as that may seem for Southern California, it felt a little autumn-like. But otherwise, with the August weather (especially inland temperatures) being rather uncooperative towards hiking and photography, it was a rather quiet month, so this is a rather brief monthly update.

I haven’t done much “archive posting” either, in particular because of some back-end work that I’ve done in the absence of new photos to process. Well, I still have some photos to process (even some infrared stuff), but the photos need some time to ripen, or “marinate” as my friend Joe says.

Some of the stuff that I’ve been doing in August may be particularly interesting for those of my readers who are photographers too, so I’ll begin with a few photos and put the “behind the scenes” stuff at the end of the post. Continue reading

July News

The first month of Southern California’s worst season comes to an end – July is over! :-) It’s been a busy month – I’ve been doing a lot of organizational “back-end” work, cleaning up inconsistencies in my local archives, adding archive posts and images to the site, and a lot more. All towards the goal of cleaning up the mess that I left behind during years of clueless publishing of photos to different photo sharing and social media sites, various blogs, and whatnot. Someone should have taught me better housekeeping right when I picked up photography more seriously! Or perhaps I should’ve just listened? :-)

Before I continue with the monthly summary, allow me a quick plug for the… Continue reading
