The Landscape As Abstract

In my first post from our 2022 Death Valley Trip, I mentioned how at Death Valley, the landscape itself is the abstract. I found the best way to represent this was with the photos that I made from up high, at Dante’s View and Dante Peak*. A couple other locations and the views they offered allowed for similar “abstractions”.

I’ve been hesitant to make this article and these photos public right now – after reading a number of stories about the insanity that came down upon Lake Elsinore and the poppies at Walker Canyon*, do I really want to have the feeling that I even just potentially contributed to the same thing happening in another place with a nice wildflower bloom?
