When I updated my homepage with a new set of images recently, I realized that I had never put the previous three photos together as a “Small Set” and collage/triptych. Duh!
Triptych
These photos come in threes. Together, they’re more than just the sum of their parts.
Three Views of Water
This triptych of Staubfall and Fischbach came together as I’m working on “cleaning out the vaults” of 2008.
Canyon In A Canyon
Here is a small collage of photos that I made in April last year, during my “escapes from the pandemic”, when I went for solo hikes (maximum social distancing!) in the desert. Not a single person in sight, for hours and hours, just like I prefer it, pandemic or not. ;)
Badlands Aerial Triptych
Pointing the drone’s camera straight down supposedly leads to a “flat” image… except when the light nicely brings out the contours of a ragged and furrowed desert landscape, like on this overcast day at the end of December, about half an hour before sunset.
Heralds of Spring
Triptych: after a long and hot summer, the first heralds of spring in the chaparral and sagebrush have arrived.
Carrizo Badlands Triptych (and B-sides)
A “triptych” from the mud hills of the Carrizo Badlands, and some thoughts about “B-side” images.
